Title: Action Comics 34 & Annual 3
Publisher: DC Comics
Reviewer: @MetropolisKid
Rating: 4 out of 5

These both came out this week, so I’m lumping them together for the sake of the review. I’ve already admitted to being a die hard Superman fan, unhappy with the past two decades of comics. I do feel like DC is turning it around for the Superman books. Charles Soule is doing oddly good work on Superman Wonder Woman, a title I was ready to scoff at. Greg Pak has done solid work in Action and Batman Superman.

I said in The Ne 52, Superman’s cast has been absent. But where Geoff Johns is renewing the Planet cast, Action has reintroduced Lana Lang into the mythos. The past few months have shown her as a strong, stable woman unlike the seemingly unstable Lana Post-Crisis. Those who have been following Pak’s story see some familiar faces show up in this part of the Doomed arc.

Doomed itself has been surprisingly different, and good. The crossover has continued its own stories through the crossover, like Lana in Action,, but the story has fit together more like puzzle pieces than an actual linear story.

Of course, it will be interesting to see what the post-Doomed Superman comics will look like, but so far this has been an enjoyable time. Next month, we jump ahead 5 years for Futures End September event.
