Title: Futures End Batman Superman Issue 1

Three years ago, I decided to get over my initial shock that DC was rebooting again. I decided I woudl embrace it. If I hated it, at least I had my memories. I was not going to pine for the early years. I was going to look forward. I would suggest what would be better, but I wouldn’t hope for Post Crisis back. A promise I’ve kept. Overall, The New 52 doesn’t suck. What does suck though, is September Gimmick Month. First, you brought back the Zero Issues, reminiscent of Zero Hour. Last year, the halfway tolerable Villains Month. This year it’s Futures End.
In a story that has nothing to do really with what’s going on, Batman wakes in a hospital remembering why he’s there. Where is Superman? Lots of references to “things that happen that we won’t specifically tell you, but will refer to that incident that made this the way it is” that are becoming hallmark in the story (see also Wonder Woman/Superman Wonder Woman Futures End New 52 1 titles for referencing “incidents that we won’t tell you”).
This one is the only one I reviewed, because frankly I’m ready for October. The only tie-in I’m really looking forward to is Booster Gold, which I’ll review next week, and maybe The Flash.
