Title: The New 52 Futures End Action Comics Issue 1
Publisher: DC Comics

Rating: 4 out of 5
Another Futures End tie-in for the all Futures End Event this year to celebrate the third anniversary of The New 52. This year, we jump ahead five years to the time of the weekly Futures End storyline. This issue doesn’t directly tie in to the Futures End storyline, but does answer the question of where Clark Kent has been now that the identity of the masked Superman has been revealed.
When I saw the cover, I knew already the comic was going for nostalgia, from the classic 70s Sandman Saga, to the retelling of it Post Crisis during the Death of Superman, and I was right. This time, though, instead of a retelling of the story, this time familiar elements of the original story are used in new and different ways.
The art was decent, not great. The story was well told, but in the end it felt like a feel good filler issue rather than an Event Month Action Comics 1. I didn’t not like the story, I would just rather not have had the conclusion to Doomed on time and the aftermath of that than to hold off another month for a useless tie in story.
