UPDATE: Unfortunately, the Rye Coalition confirmed with GTDEBRIS that they will not be performing at this show due to “Hard Luck” logistics, but they will be doing a live Q&A with the band after the movie! Still very cool! Jersey City is still on their radar though, and we can’t wait until their back to rock out!

The Rye Coalition come back home September 20th with an exclusive documentary screening & performance at the Landmark Loews Theater.

Screenshot 2014-09-09 11.12.23Dennis Marrero of GTDEBRIS.COM here, and I am writing today with some of the most exciting Jersey City news ever … at least for me! If you have been around JC for awhile, or if you just dig hard rock amazingness, you’ve probably heard of the group “RYE COALITION”. If you haven’t, buy their album “ON TOP” right now. Just do it, you won’t regret it.

These Jersey City natives were nothing more than a blip on the music scene in their day, but for the people who followed them, they were much more. Their last record (Curses) was produced by Dave Grohl, the almighty, and they’ve toured with huge acts like Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters and The Mars Volta, but for some reason, they just didn’t make it “big”. Sadly, I am a diehard fan that never had a chance to see these guys in “RYE COALITION” form (3 members of the group now make up “The Black Hollies”, another great band!). But, my friends, the wait is over. After playing a few reunion shows, these guys are coming back to their hometown on September 20th for a special event at the Landmark Lowes Jersey Theater at Journal Square. And … they’re even screening a new documentary about the band, “Rye Coalition: The Story of the Hard Luck 5”, that will take fans through their career and the obstacles they faced. I’m crazy excited about this and all fans and punk rock n’ roll lovers should not miss this event!
