GOUJ 2021

The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s Halloween Ball and Fundraiser returns to the Jersey City Cemetery October 22 – 23, 2021.

When I say the best halloween party ever, I mean it. Every year, Anthony “Dancing Tony” Susco, fun runner at Jersey City’s Rock-it Docket, hosts the Ghost of Uncle Joe’s fundraiser for and at The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery featuring a star-studded lineup of all of my favorite (cover) bands. But these ain’t your average cover bands. Dressed in full costume, these acts look and sound like the real deal … sometimes even more so than the bands they’re covering.

Full disclosure, I work on the event’s website every year, theghostofunclejoes.com, with my agency Fake Plastic Websites, but this post is not meant to be a disingenuous commercial. The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s has become a family tradition for me and so many others in and around Jersey City. And if watching Joy Division open for Guns N’ Roses in a cemetery on Halloween weren’t enough, it is for a noble cause, which makes it that much better.

The amount of work that has gone into this year’s event has been especially impressive and if you’ve never been, this year will definitely be one for the books. Check out the lineup below and my personal history of Uncle Joe’s costumes. – Dennis Marrero
